UTBC Charity Dual Sport 2014 Date TBD

2014 Update
It looks like there will be no Fall 2014 ride. Evidently there are issues with the landowner{s} on the old course, and the club is scrambling to put together their enduro race, the Bootlegger, on new land and trails. Adding a DS to that work load…not good!

Look for a possible 2015 date between Broxton and Armenia!

Trail Update!{2013}
“Hey Guys
Just completed the route sheet for the ride. Thought maybe you guys could help me get the word out.
Although we’ve had a lot of rain , the trails were good. Good thing about the foot hills , all the water runs off. I did the whole thing on 50/50 tires , but would recommend knobbies , would be more fun if I had them. We added more trail this year , both main route & advanced. The main trail will be easier with no uphills , just good trail , all the Enduro trail will be advanced. You will need knobbies for the advanced, which has some new virgin trail , which we’ll be using in the Enduro later this year. Lunch & gas will be up off the parkway again this year , high & cool.”

The UTBC Charity Dual Sport ride starts just north of North Wilkesboro in the foothills of North Carolina. Home of the Bootlegger Enduro, where some of the same trails will be used, and at least some of the less challenging trails. The start will be the same, plenty of parking, camping free. Elevation changes will be from 1200′ to 4200. Lots of single track, some off camber, two track ATV type trails, logging roads, creek crossings, at least 12 of them, not to deep, roots, rocks, HILLS, State dirt roads, tight twisty county pavement, the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lunch provided picnic style down by the creek, up high at 3600′ where its cool. You’ll need knobbies for sure. Plenty of EASY OUTS if you get tired. Plenty of advanced trails for those who think they are A riders. More trail this year, more mileage. Non-ethanol gas 50 miles out. Around 100 miles total.

The UBTC Charity Dual Sport supports western N.C. handicapped children, Dream House For Medically Fragile Children and numerous churches in Millers Creek area.

For the family, plenty of entertainment nearby. Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mt. both less than a hour away, the same for the famous Mast General store. Plenty of craft stores up on the Blue Ridge Parkway, only 20 minutes. Good motels and restaurants in North Wilkesboro.
